Framework conditions for the support of renewable energies and energy efficiency in Kazakhstan

This study elaborated on behalf of BMUB analyses the framework conditions for the support of renewable energies and energy efficiency in Kazakhstan. The first part of the study contains explanations about the country itself, about features of its energy and electricity market, an analysis of market players as well as description of the current energy policy with a focus on renewable energies and energy efficiency. In part two, we discuss technical, economical and financial potentials of several renewable energy sources (such as hydropower, wind energy, solar power and geothermal power) and energy efficiency in Kazakhstan. In part three, we conclude the precedent chapters and identify possibilities for further involvement of the BMUB in the development of renewable energies and energy efficiency in Kazakhstan. Specifically, this concerns political, legal and institutional capacity buidling.
