Project Description

Examination of options for the optimal realization of climate protection related expenditures in the European Union

In cooperation with Ecofys, we support the BMUB with economic analysis of public (on the EU as well as on national levels) and private climate related financing within the European Union. Existing financing instrumenst are identified regarding their amounts and mitigation results and their ability to contribute to reach the EU climate targets until 2020 and 2030. The analysis differentiates between instruments for financing investment in energy efficiency and renewable energies. Special focus is on the situation for EU-13 countries and analysis of new, innovative financing istruments which are able to enlarge the private sources for climate finance. In addition, potential co-benefits of financing are identified and qualified for Germany and Poland. A brochure, summarising the results is being prepared.
