Project Description

Capacity Building on emission trading for bilateral cooperation

The German governments supports the aim of the European Comission to enlarge the European emission trading scheme into a global emission trading in the future. In this regard, BMUB supports capacity building for emission trading in countries aiming to build up such schemes on the national level first. DIW Econ contributes to elaboration of training materials for setting up emission trading schemes. Our focus is in particular on elaboration of training material related to economic issues and impacts of emission trading like development prices for carbon on electricity, analysis of advantages and disatvantages of emission trading, development of National Allocation Plans (NAPs) and the institutional framework of emission trading. We participate in respective training activities for countries like Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Chile, South Korea and China.
